CHAIR: Prof Alice Roberts

Clinical anatomist, author and broadcaster Alice Roberts is the University’s Professor of Public Engagement in Science and chairs the Public Engagement Working Group.

alice robertsAlice appears regularly as a science presenter on BBC2. Recent programmes and series include Horizon, Ice Age Giants, Prehistoric Autopsy, Origins of Us, and The Incredible Human Journey. She also writes a regular science column for The Observer and has written five popular science books. She’s on the advisory board for the Cheltenham Science Festival, and the funding committee for the Wellcome Trust’s Society Awards. She joined the University on 1st February, 2012.

Alice carries out a range of academic duties which include teaching undergraduate medical and Biosciences students, and supervising PhD students. As part of Alice’s role as Professor of Public Engagement she helps to promote the University’s academics and their research, but she sees her main role as supporting fellow academics in their own public engagement.
