Chemistry World’s annual science communication competition

Chemistry World’s annual science communication competition returns and is now open for entries. The topic this year: chemistry and art!

The competition offers a fantastic opportunity for students, postgraduates, researcher or anyone with knowledge of science and an interest in science communication to demonstrate their skill and be published in Chemistry World.

To enter, send a written piece (<800 words) suitable for publication in Chemistry World and an idea of a second round entry, in which you tackle your chosen topic in a more artistic way (eg painting, poster, piece of music, video), to chemistryworld@rsc.org. Unfortunately, those whose main source of income is through science writing or who have professional (paid) science writing experience are ineligible.

The competition will close on 6 January 2015 at 00:01.

We will notify the ten finalists soon afterwards and ask them to specify what their second round entry will be. A panel of seven science communication experts will judge the shortlisted entries during the prize giving event on 20 March 2015 at Burlington House, London. The winner will receive £500, be published in Chemistry World print magazine and have the opportunity to take part in a special assignment with Chemistry World and our sponsor, AkzoNobel. Two runner-ups will receive £100.
