Wellcome Trust International engagement awards

wellcome_logoDeadline – 19th February 2016

The Wellcome Trust invites expressions of interest for its international engagement awards. These support innovative public or community engagement projects that explore biomedical research or health in Africa and Asia. Projects should aim to do the following:

•stimulate dialogue about biomedical research and its impact on the public;

•promote innovative partnerships between community organisations, the cultural sector, and scientists or researchers;

•strengthen capacity to conduct future public or community engagement with biomedical research and health.

Applicants may be biomedical and health researchers, non-governmental organisations, educators, artists, theatre practitioners, and cultural and community organisations. Projects must be led by or in collaboration with biomedical scientists or health researchers. Non-scientist led projects must have a biomedical scientific input through a work partnership with an expert in the area, and scientist-led projects are encouraged to collaborate with partners in civil society and the creative industries. Activities must take place in a low- or middle-income country within sub-Saharan Africa, south-east Asia or south Asia.

Each award is worth up to £30,000 for up to three years.
