University of Birmingham – Cultural Intern Scheme 

Now in its third year, the Cultural Internship Scheme offers successful applicants a six-month paid work based placement, each offering real opportunities to gain high-quality work experience and undertake meaningful projects at leading cultural organisations in the West Midlands. Host organisations to date have included BBC Birmingham, Birmingham Museums Trust, Birmingham Opera Company, Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Birmingham Royal Ballet, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Flatpack Festival, Library of Birmingham (GRAIN Photography Hub), Performances Birmingham, Sampad, and Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. For further details visit http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/culture/cultural-internship-scheme.aspx.

Research Council Training

Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) – Public engagement training courses
These are for NERC-funded students and researchers to develop science communication and public engagement skills.
