Whilst there are a whole host of benefits to getting involved in Public Engagement, it’s wonderful when that engagement activity is recognised and rewarded. All kinds of recognition are important, from the day-to-day, to promotions, to special awards and competitions.
The University offers two institutional awards for excellence in Public Engagement The Alice Roberts Award for PGR excellence and The Light of Understanding Award.
All research-active staff are eligible for the awards and group submissions are acceptable. Nominations can be made by anyone and self nominations are highly encouraged. Applications should demonstrate not only a body of public engagement work, but should take care to stipulate where and why the work is of excellent quality.
Nominations for our 2022 awards will open in Early 2022.
There are also other Internal Award Schemes that recognise Public Engagement, including; the Research Impact Awards, the Graduate School’s Images of Research Competition, 3 Minute Thesis and the College of MDS’s PERCAT Award for Excellence in Public Engagement. Get in touch to find out more.
