Part of the University Arts and Science Festival, this event on 19th March 2014 was an exhibition of cancer cell images sited within the foyer of the Barber Institute of Fine Arts. A selection of images taken using electron and confocal microscopes were displayed, accompanied by detailed ‘lay friendly’ descriptions. In addition to viewing the images, visitors could look down a microscope to see cancer tissue samples up close, speak to researchers and Cancer Research UK staff, and also had the chance to add to the gallery by sketching/writing what cancer means to them.
Approx 100 visitors came to see the gallery, and the event was also repeated during the British Science Festival in September 2014.
