Leading to Engage academic champions

RCUK Catalyst Seed Fund: Leading to Engage (L2E)

The Public Engagement with Research Committee (PERC) are thrilled to announce the RCUK Catalyst Seed Fund: Leading to Engage (L2E) programme. A cohort of 16 “Leading to Engage” candidates have been chosen with the aid of the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research & Knowledge Transfer (Professor Tim Softley) and the College Directors of Research. This was a competitive process and the calibre of applications was very high. The cohort will become leading representatives for public engagement with research (PER) in their Colleges, undergoing training as part of the programme and working on public engagement projects of their devising. L2E candidates will also join PERC as new academic champions for public engagement with research.

As of 2016, PERC will report into University Research Committee. We believe this is a significant step forward, ensuring senior ownership and discussion of the PER agenda, with a focus on culture change and sustainability.

The intention is to run the Leading to Engage programme every few years to gradually build a network of academic public engagement with research champions over time.

PERC wishes to thank the ongoing work of our L2E champions.

We will be recruiting a new cohort in 2019. Watch this space and sign up to our newsletter to get the information on this call-out straight into your inbox!
