Nuffield Research Placements (NRPs) – NEEDS YOU!

Could you change someone’s life this summer?

Nuffield Research Placements (NRPs) provide over 1,000 Year 12 students each year the opportunity to work alongside scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians over a 4-6 week period in their summer holidays. NRPs need more researchers to provide students with placements in summer 2016. Can you help?

NRPs have a focus on supporting students who do not have a family history of participating in higher education and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. The programme provides travel costs for all students and an additional bursary for those from the most disadvantaged backgrounds.

NRPs work through regional networks to link talented students with organisations undertaking research. Placements are allocated through a  competitive programme and applicants are among the strongest STEM students in their schools.

RCUK supports NRPs and many of the placements are hosted by Research Council funded researchers each year. However, the scheme is so highly regarded that there are always more students than placements and therefore RCUK and Nuffield are calling on more researchers to get involved and host placements this summer.

Providing a placement will give you the opportunity to share your expertise and inspire the next generation of researchers. In addition, Nuffield students will make a significant contribution to one of your projects. For examples of previous placements visit www.nuffieldfoundation.org/project-providers.

If you can help, please email Sophie Robinson (srobinson@nuffieldfoundation.org). The process is straightforward and your regional coordinator will provide help and guidance throughout.
